When we first heard that Grand Oasis Viva in Cancun was adopting an adults only sexy edgy concept, we were excited.  Our customers are always looking for new places to travel, and in the world of adult only travel, there are not a lot of options.  So it is with great disappointment that we re-print the following press release, in which the owners of Grand Oasis Viva have decided to scrap the adults only concept, and to turn the resort into a Dreams Sands Resort, which will be family friendly.  Below is the press release issued by AMResorts.

AMResorts has signed a deal with Dreams Sands Cancun Resort & Spa to add the resort to the company's Mexico portfolio.

The resort will be the 12th property for the Dreams Resorts & Spas brand, and marks another chapter in the expansion of AMResorts’ portfolio, which has grown by 20 percent in the past year alone.

“Apple Leisure Group has strong distribution in Cancun, and an equally robust performance track record to match,” said Alejandro Zozaya, CEO for AMResorts parent company Apple Leisure Group.  “Client loyalty and demand, and owner confidence, continues to fuel the growth of the AMResorts portfolio in today’s competitive hospitality industry.”

The existing Grand Oasis Viva property will undergo an extensive renovation and adaptation to meet the Dreams Resorts & Spas Unlimited-Luxury standards. AMResorts will assume operations when the property is officially rebranded this September.

“Cancun continues to be a top destination for travelers around the world, and will remain a priority as Apple Leisure Group strengthens our presence in existing markets while extending our reach into new regions,” said Javier Coll, EVP and chief strategy officer for Apple Leisure Group.

The family-friendly Dreams Sands Cancun Resort & Spa will have 441 rooms and suites, all with ocean views, facing 650 feet of white sand beachfront in the southern end of Cancun’s hotel zone.

“Dreams Sands Cancun demonstrates the brand’s commitment to offering guests a unique, luxury vacation experience in highly desirable destinations,” said Gonzalo del Peon, president of AMResorts. “Dreams Resorts & Spas continues to look for new opportunities to continue exceeding our guests’ expectations.”

Other amenities will include eight international restaurants and six bars and lounges; an array of day and evening activities; and 24-hour room and concierge services. The Explorer’s Club for Kids will offer dedicated facilities and tailored programming.

The resort will also have two pools, a variety of non-motorized water sports, a fitness center and a daily activities center. The Dreams Spa by Pevonia will offer a variety of indigenous and hydrotherapy treatments. Private meeting and banquet spaces will be able to accommodate guests for corporate meetings and events.
